Do I need an internet connection at the venue?

Yes. BeatTribe runs in the browser for both you and your guests, so there's no offline mode — guests need a connection to open the request page and send a song, and you need one to see requests arrive or sync a playlist.

In practice this is rarely a problem, because guests use their own mobile data. The connection worth checking in advance is yours: if you're relying on venue wifi, find out whether it actually reaches the DJ booth, and whether it needs a login page first.

A phone hotspot is the usual backup and is more than enough for BeatTribe, which moves very little data.

If you're worried about the venue, prepare for it. Share your link ahead of time so requests arrive before the night, and download the spreadsheet of requests before you travel — that gives you the full list of songs on your own device, which you can play from whatever you normally use even if nothing connects at all.
