Everything you need to get the most out of BeatTribe — from setup to showtime.
Getting started
How do I create my first event?
After signing up, you will be guided through a short setup wizard to create your first event. Once complete, you will get a unique QR code and request link that you can share with your guests. If you want to create additional events later, click "Create Event" from your dashboard — each event gets its own QR code and settings.
How do I share my QR code with guests?
Download the QR code from your event page and print it for the venue, display it on a screen, or include it in a digital invitation. You can also share the event link directly via WhatsApp, email, or social media. Guests scan the code or tap the link and the request page opens instantly in their browser — no app download needed.
Can I collect song requests before the event?
Yes. Share your event link days or weeks in advance — via email, WhatsApp, or on your invitation. Guests can submit requests from home, so you arrive at the venue with a queue of requests already waiting.
Do my guests need to download an app?
No. Guests scan the QR code and a page opens instantly in their browser. It works on iPhone, Android, and any modern device — nothing to install, no account needed on their end.
Managing requests
How do I approve or reject requests?
Every request lands in your dashboard. From there you can delete requests you don't want or skip ones you're unsure about. When you're ready, click "Sync Playlist" to approve and sync the remaining requests to your streaming service. Nothing is added to any playlist until you explicitly sync it.
Can I filter out explicit content?
Yes. Enable the explicit content filter in your event settings and guests will only be able to request clean versions of songs. This is especially useful for school dances, weddings, and family-friendly events.
Can I block entire genres?
Yes. The genre blocking feature lets you select entire genres to exclude — for example, blocking Hip-Hop/Rap or Metal. Guests searching for songs in those genres will not see results. Genre filtering is available on the Pro plan.
How do I auto-approve song requests?
In your event settings, you can enable auto-approve so that incoming requests are automatically added to your playlist without manual review. This is ideal for casual parties or bar nights where you want guests to build the playlist themselves. You can still use the explicit song filter and genre blocking alongside auto-approve to keep control over what gets through.
What happens with duplicate requests?
If multiple guests request the same song, it only appears once in your approved playlist — no duplicates when you sync. You can still see how many people requested each song in your dashboard.
Playlists & streaming
Which streaming services does BeatTribe support?
BeatTribe syncs directly to Spotify, TIDAL, and Apple Music. Once you are ready, log into your streaming account inside BeatTribe and create a finished playlist in one click.
My playlist is not syncing — what should I do?
First, make sure you are logged into the correct streaming account inside BeatTribe. If the issue persists, try disconnecting and reconnecting your streaming service from the event settings. If individual songs are missing from the synced playlist, they may not be available in your region on that platform.
Can I create multiple playlists per event?
The free plan includes one playlist export per event. The Pro plan unlocks up to five playlists per event, so you can create separate playlists for different parts of the night — for example, a dinner playlist and a dance floor playlist.
How do I assign songs into separate playlists?
In your event dashboard, click the plus icon behind a song request to select which playlist it should be added to. This lets you organize the night — for example, keeping dinner music and dance floor tracks in separate playlists. Multiple playlists per event are available on the Pro plan.
Do I need a streaming account to use BeatTribe?
No — guests can request songs without any streaming account. A Spotify, TIDAL, or Apple Music account is only needed when you want to sync the approved playlist.
Account & billing
What is included in the free plan?
The Starter plan is free forever. You get up to 50 song requests per event, one active event at a time, a QR code for guests, and Spotify sync. No credit card required.
What is the difference between Pro and the 90-Day Pass?
Both give you identical features — unlimited requests, multiple playlists, all themes, playlist sync to all streaming services, and AI suggestions. The difference is billing: Pro is a monthly subscription you can cancel any time, while the 90-Day Pass is a single one-time payment that automatically expires after 90 days with no recurring charge.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your User Settings. You keep access to all Pro features until the end of your current billing period. The 90-Day Pass has no subscription to cancel — it simply expires automatically.
How do I change my password?
If you signed up with your email address, go to the sign-in page and click "Forgot password?". Enter the email associated with your account and we will send you a reset link. If you signed up via Google or Facebook, your password is managed by that provider — update it in your Google or Facebook account settings instead.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion from your User Settings page. All your events, song requests, and personal data will be permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.
Notifications
How do I activate notifications?
Getting real-time request alerts is the best way to stay on top of your set. Because every device handles "Web Apps" differently, follow the specific guide for your phone or computer below.
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
On iOS, notifications are only available if you "Install" the app first. You cannot enable them directly in the Safari browser.
- Navigate to your Dashboard or Event Page.
- Tap on the bell icon or "Allow Notifications".
- A banner will open, showing you how to add BeatTribe to your home screen.
- Follow this instruction and add BeatTribe to your home screen.
- Go to your home screen and tap the new BeatTribe icon.
- On your Dashboard or Event Page, tap the bell icon or "Allow Notifications" and when prompted, tap "Allow".
Android (Chrome)
Android makes it easy, but installing the app provides a more stable connection for alerts.
Desktop (Chrome)
If you run your dashboard from a laptop at the DJ booth, ensure your browser isn't in "Incognito" mode, as notifications are blocked there.
Still not working?
If you've followed these steps and aren't hearing a sound:
- Check "Do Not Disturb": Ensure your device isn't in Silent or Focus mode.
- Browser Settings: Make sure you haven't globally blocked notifications in your browser's main settings menu.
- Refresh the Page: Sometimes a quick refresh is all it takes to trigger the final sync.
Why do notifications only work when I add BeatTribe to my home screen?
If you are using an iPhone (iOS), you might have noticed that the notification settings only "unlock" once you've installed the app. Here is the breakdown of why this happens and why it actually benefits you.
1. Apple's Security Rule
Apple designed iOS so that regular websites in Safari cannot send you "Push Notifications" (the alerts that pop up when your screen is locked). They do this to prevent random websites from spamming your phone.
To get these alerts, Apple requires you to "validate" the app by adding it to your Home Screen. This tells your iPhone: "I trust BeatTribe, and I want it to act like a real app on my phone."
2. Standalone Mode vs. Browser Mode
When you open BeatTribe from your Home Screen, it runs in Standalone Mode. This is a special environment where the "App" has its own memory and permissions, separate from your browser.
- In your Browser: BeatTribe is just a website. It can't "wake up" your phone to tell you a new song request arrived.
- On Home Screen: BeatTribe is a Web App. It has permission to use the "Notifications" feature, which allows our server to send a signal directly to your lock screen, even if the app is closed.
3. Battery and Performance
By requiring you to add the app to your Home Screen, your device can manage battery life better. Instead of your browser having to stay "open" in the background to listen for song requests, the system handles the notification delivery efficiently, saving your battery for the gig.
How do I reset my notification preferences?
If you accidentally clicked "Block" when prompted, or if you previously turned off alerts and now want them back, you'll need to manually reset your permissions. This process is different depending on your browser.
On Desktop (Chrome, Edge, or Brave)
The easiest way to fix permissions on a computer is via the address bar.
- Look for the Lock: Click the Lock icon or the Settings icon located to the left or right of beattribe.io in your browser's address bar.
- Toggle Notifications: Look for Notifications in the dropdown menu.
- Reset: If it is set to "Block," toggle it to On or select Reset Permission.
- Refresh: Reload the page. You should now be able to click "Allow Notifications" or tap the alert icon inside your BeatTribe dashboard.
On iPhone or iPad
Since you are likely using the "installed" version of BeatTribe, you manage notifications just like a standard app from the App Store.
- Open Settings: Go to your iPhone's main Settings app.
- Find BeatTribe: Scroll down through your list of apps until you find BeatTribe.
- Notifications: Tap on Notifications.
- Allow: Ensure the Allow Notifications toggle is green. You can also customize if you want them to appear on the Lock Screen, Notification Center, or as Banners.
On Android
Android gives you deep control over "Site Settings."
- Tap the Three Dots: In Chrome, tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Go to Settings: Tap Settings - Site Settings - Notifications.
- Find the Site: Under the "Blocked" section, find beattribe.io
- Clear & Reset: Tap on the site and select Clear & Reset.
- Re-enable: Return to the BeatTribe app and tap "Allow Notifications" or tap the alert icon in your Dashboard again.
